NGOs and NPOs
Gideon Fisher & Co.'s Commercial department has extensive experience providing counsel and representing non-governmental and non-profit organizations (NGOs and NPOs) as well as public benefit corporations (PBCs); both with entities that are professional in nature having large budgets and with smaller scale entities, that are traditionally part of the third sector (non-profit).
The department’s attorneys personally support dozens of such organizations, from their inception until they achieve proper management, obtaining approval pursuant to Section 46A of the Income Tax Ordinance, participating in management committee meetings and general assemblies, dealing with the NPO Registrar, etc.
The department’s team has significant experience assisting in obtaining tax exemptions, making inquiries with the NPO Registrar, writing and amending various articles of association / regulations, public tenders and contracts. Over the years the firm has advised hundreds of NPOs.
As part of the firm’s commitment to community responsibility, the department assists many NPOs and PBCs completely pro bono. The organizations that the department has voluntarily assisted include: Amcha, Cities at Night, The Bat, amongst many others.
